Experience
Lydia is a tested Illinois litigator. She represents businesses and government entities in commercial disputes, in defense of employment claims, and in prosecuting and defending tort claims, including those involving fraud and professional liability issues. She is very familiar with the state court bench in Chicago and surrounding counties and is able to provide her clients with insight and guidance into the courtroom procedures and preferences of Illinois judges. She also has extensive experience in federal court, grounded in her experience as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and a staff attorney in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
In the employment context, Lydia has deep knowledge of the administrative agency process at the federal, state, and local level. She represents business clients in administrative proceedings in the EEOC office in the Northern District of Illinois, in the Illinois Department of Human Rights, and in the analogous local county and city agencies. She is familiar with the processes and personnel of these agency offices, and has provided consistent, positive results for administrative charge respondents.
Lydia also investigates and counsels her clients when allegations of misconduct arise. She is adept at using skills developed in her prior career as a social worker when interviewing witnesses and subjects and discussing sensitive topics, identifying issues quickly to frame cost-effective processes, while at the same time providing the space and environment for witnesses to be forthcoming and feel heard.
